The Farallon Review is a new literary review featuring contemporary, engaging, and literary
prose fiction. The Premier Issue was launched in 2008.
. . .
Please note: We are currently reviewing submissions for our second issue.
1. We are looking for narrative prose fiction, i.e., short stories. No poetry. No memoir. No non-fiction. The story should be self-contained and not be part of a longer work. The story should have forward momentum and a structure.
2. Lead us somewhere interesting. Show us a small, beautiful gem. We are not adverse to experimental fiction but if we are not touching the ground at least let us be able to see it. Highly polished contributions are expected but a touch of callowness would not be unseemly.
3. We want original work, not previously published. We seek first serial rights only.
4. Include an e-mail address so that we may reply. If you prefer, a stamped, self-addressed envelope will do as well. If you want the manuscript returned, please include a large envelope with postage sufficient for that task. Whether you want the manuscript mailed back or not, always retain a copy of any manuscript you send.
5. Submissions should be double-spaced and single-sided on white 8 ½ by 11 paper in a standard font such as Courier or Times Roman. Margins should be at least one inch. Word count should be more than 2000. Generally, word count should be less than 10,000 words, but, in the special case, we can go longer if you can.
6. The author should put his or her name and contact information (e-mail, address and phone number) on a cover sheet that also bears the name of the story and the approximate word count. Because we prefer to operate under a blind submission selection process, the pages of the submission should have the title of the story in a footer on the lower right on each page, but not the name of the author.
7. A cover letter is not necessary, but in any event should be no more than a page.
8. Send the hard copy to, 1017 L Street, Box 348, Sacramento, CA 95814. No e-submissions. No disks.
9. Send only your best stuff, please.
10.
We prefer to consider exclusive submissions, but understand the reality that some writers prefer to submit to a number of publications simultaneously. We will respond as fast as we can. If the work gets accepted elsewhere, please let us know immediately.
Payment for accepted submissions will be two contributor's copies.
